I get hung up on the fact that the candle's flame only goes out once, regardless of its continuous "births" and "deaths". Is my ego just vicariously hung up on that one instance of fire as if it were me? Where do my emotions go after my flame goes out? What about the growth I've experienced or the lessons I've learned? Am I being too focused on "myself"? Why have I spent a life trying to improve, to learn from mistakes, to become fairer, wiser, and "better"? Are the relationships we've nurtured with people in the courses of our lives just put to rest when we die?
